The season comes to a rousing finale with the superstars of
world music, The Klezmatics. The only klezmer band to win a Grammy, The
Klezmatics emerged out of the vibrant cultural scene in New York’s East village in 1986. This
remarkable band is steeped in Eastern European Jewish tradition and
spirituality and incorporates contemporary themes such as human rights and
anti-fundamentalism into their eclectic musical influences which include
Arabian, African, Latin and Balkan rhythms, jazz and punk.
Over the course of more than two decades and nine albums,
The Klezmatics have stubbornly continued making their own special brand of
music that is wild, mystical, provocative, reflective and ecstatically
danceable.
