The Hampton Arts Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation, is the umbrella under which The American Theatre, The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center and the new Gordon-Kearney wing of the Theatre operate in a unique public/private partnership with the City of Hampton.

The 25 member Board of the Foundation consists of community leaders and arts patrons. The 13 member Hampton Arts Commission is appointed by City Council. Six of the 13 Commissioners sit on the Foundation Board.

Both Boards meet every month to oversee policy and operations.

The Mission of Hampton Arts is to ensure that world class performing
and visual arts are accessible to and appeal to the diverse citizenry
of the Hampton Roads region.
