Maria is a Hampton resident. She received the Provost scholarship to attend Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned a B.F.A. in Communication Arts & Design in 2000. Maria began working with Hampton Arts in 2001 as a Gallery Assistant at The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center. In 2002 she moved to The American Theatre as House Manager and she was appointed to Box Office Manager in May 2003. She married the talented Matt Thomas in January 2005 right on stage here at The American Theatre. Her interests and passions include movies, music, fashion, literature and Japanese culture. Maria is sometimes a freelance writer and occasionally teaches film courses. In her free time, she enjoys the occasional belly dance, playing music about once a year with her friends and collecting all sorts of random junk, knickknacks and ephemera. This year she started Go Go Milk, a line of handmade one-of-a-kind knitwear items inspired by her many random obsessions.
