Jim has served as Gallery Manager at The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center since 2005. He is one of the most well known artists and teachers in the region. Under his leadership, the Arts Center is enjoying a well deserved renaissance with attendance, registrations, memberships, sales and participation all increasing.

Jim has been featured in well over 100 solo, group and juried exhibitions and he has won more than 125 prizes and awards. His works are featured in numerous prestigious collections including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, The Portsmouth Museums, CSX Corporate Collections, Philip Morris Corporate Collections and the permanent collections of The Charles H. Taylor Arts Center.

Prior to coming home to Hampton in 2005, Jim served in various capacities at the Peninsula Fine Arts Center for almost 25 years. He was also an art instructor at Thorpe Junior High School in Hampton from 1971–1976.
